Jom EAT! // Signature Kaw Kaw x Stiq. @ Bandar Utama

It’s been a long while since burger tasted this good.

We love burgers. It may seem awkward but we love sloppy burgers drowned in sauces and melted cheese. Sinful delight? Yes, indeed.

We were in Bandar Utama the other day and needed a space to sit down and complete some jobs in hand. On weekday afternoon, Bandar Utama can be quite a teeming place with schools and commercial areas all around, throngs of students and parents as well as white-collars looking for a lunch spot make this place extra busy. It was difficult to find a parking in many commercial squares.

After several attempts, we finally decided to just park our car at any possible space, alight the car and just patronise any café or eatery came in sight. That was how we found Signature Kaw Kaw & Stiq. We called that a foodie fate. Just in case you feel Kaw Kaw looks familiar, yes you’re on that exact path! The famous Burger Kaw Kaw (pioneer of Burger Bakar) collaborates with Wangsa Maju Stiq and TA-DA!

Al-fresco dining is an option but it was a hot afternoon so being in an air-conditioned space seemed more logical. The interior deco was simple and appropriate. I particularly liked the feature wall – orang utan reflects Malaysian pride of wildlife.

We didn’t initially think of dining here (ops). We ordered tea and coffee, and thought we would instead go somewhere else for dinner. It was too naive to even think so! As more people patronised the restaurant for late lunch, I was drooling! After all, nothing beats the smell of grilled steak. We had to hold back ourselves because the Nasi Berlauk from Restoran Sambal HIjau was still lingering in stomach. (Yes, we went to both places on the same day). The friendly staff didn’t mind though, that we seemed to only spend a little money but occupying a table for four (and connecting their wifi).

As evening drew near (finally), we carefully browsed through the food menu again and that’s it – we’re dining here! We weren’t too hungry, so we thought of ordering a main course and something light to share BUT “sorry, salad is unavailable” – what?! So these were what we ordered:

Classic Lamb Burger

Let’s begin with Wild Mushroom Soup (RM9.90).

First of all, we liked how they served a general portion of croutons in a separate bowl. In this way, we can use the croutons as we please and these tiny little bites will not turn soggy in the soup. Very thoughtful. The soup itself was very rich, creamy and rather chunky. We felt like it was made customising to our preference, because this was exactly how we love our soup to be. Please pardon us for not being able to distinct all kinds of mushrooms used, but it was earthy in the right way. The croutons complemented everything so well – and it should be an outstanding snack on its own. So much love for this bowl of goodness.

Now, down to the highlight of our evening. The burger! We ordered a Classic Lamb Burger, served with Shoestring Fries, Red Pickle Onion on Green Leaf.

The whole serving was insanely addictive. It’s been a long while since burger could be so tempting. Assembled with two pieces of Aussie Lamb Patties, Swiss cheese, mix salsa (with tormatila and chipotle), carefully sandwiched between toasted Potato Crusted Bun, everything was heavenly. The bun, toasted to the slightly golden and charred, was a pure delight even on its own. We later heard that it was house-made – I think only chefs who truly appreciate good food will go this extra mile. The patties, had the most lamb-ly flavour, which we both thought grilled to perfect doneness. Together with melted cheese, we just couldn’t ask more from a lamb burger. Even the side dish was a star! The fries were crunchy throughout. Thumbs up!

Wild Mushroom Soup

We conclude this is a great way to celebrate another evening.
