Family Time // Taman Tasik Millenium @ Kuala Kubu Bharu

I ain’t going lengthy but this surely is a great family hideout for some weekend fun.

Taman Tasik Millenium was initially one of our go-to places whenever we needed to unwind from work-related stress. In our recent visits, we found it quite a spot to be at, especially when we’re with Baby Z. It’s not crowded (social-distancing checked!), and with a vast area to run around (healthy body checked!)

A soft spot for Kuala Kubu Bharu

My grandparents spent a big part of their lives living in Kuala Kubu Bharu, the district capital of Hulu Selangor District. Growing up in this little township, my dad would tirelessly narrate his childhood days of hanging out with children from the same neighbourhood. If you’re unfamiliar with Kuala Kubu Bharu, think about it being a stopover before continuing your journey to Fraser’s Hill. The town is lovely, with its pre-war buildings. To us who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of a city over a weekend, Kuala Kubu Bharu can be an ideal choice. It isn’t too far from the city, approximately an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur – and you’ll be rewarded with the primitive charm this town has to offer. There are a great variety of fun activities to explore around the town, and Taman Tasik Millenium is our newfound spot.

How to Get to Taman Tasik Millenium?

Taman Tasik Millenium is a recreational park located at Ampang Pecah, Kuala Kubu Bharu. From the town centre of Kuala Kubu Bharu, it’s only a 10-minute drive away. It makes every sense to make it a stop if you’re in this district.

Taman Tasik Millenium: What to do there?

As with a standard recreational park, Taman Tasik Millenium is equipped with numerous facilities. There is a jogging track around the lakeside, which draws the a small crowd of local residents coming by for their evening jogs. Apart from that, there is also a children’s playground (with a gigantic dinosaur slide), a mini stadium, and other exercise equipments. Part of the park is also reserved for botanical research purposes, so go around and explore a little.

If you’re more adventurous than we do, you can even try your hand at paragliding. As far we we know, there’s a sports team that supervises the paragliding activities here. You can read more about their services here.

Taman Tasik Millenium: Our Unexpected Date with Paragliders

11th September, 2021 (Saturday)

After months of Movement Control Order, the government has finally eased the restriction of travelling inter-district. As soon as the ban was lifted, we planned a mini road trip to Kuala Kubu Bharu. We weren’t sure if this was the case with many of you, but we became so appreciative of the chances of travelling out of the house. Although many of the restaurants were not opening up their dine-in service, we were lucky enough to be able to takeaway some fast food. A mini picnic in the car it was!

The town of Kuala Kubu Bharu is relatively small, soon we had to think where to head for in the evening. We looked in the map, and spotted Taman Tasik Millenium. Without thinking twice, we headed there straightaway. It was early evening, the mini stadium was almost empty – only a few people sitting leisurely under the trees. They were expected paragliders to land. Baby Z was over the moon when he saw paragliders hovering over the air. He ran around happily and greeted everyone who landed safely. It was a beautiful evening, to see Baby Z smiling again, under the sun. It seemed nothing had changed, and the world was never shaken by the pandemic.
